Description

Best, fun and easy thing to make with kids! My kids come running to help with this recipe! Don’t forget to lick the beaters! And this simple classic recipe bakes into the the best cookies, thin, crispy outside but not crunchy, and still soft and chewy!

Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups white flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup softened butter (that’s 2 sticks)
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla ( extract is fine but the real stuff is real good!!)
  • 2 eggs

Other

  • Chocolate chips (however many you like, we do about 1 cup for this recipe)

Instructions

  1. Combine FLOUR, SALT & BAKING SODA in a medium bowl and set aside.
  2. Use hand mixer to combine SOFTENED BUTTER, BOTH WHITE & BROWN SUGARS, EGGS and VANILLA.
  3. Slowly add the flour mixture to the butter/sugar mixture a little at a time, using the hand mixer.
  4. Add in your favorite baking chips.

Voila! CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE DOUGH!! (see note about raw eggs)

  • Place spoonfuls of the dough on a pizza stone or cookie sheet about an inch apart and bake for 12-14 minutes at 350 degrees.

Voila! CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES!

Notes

  • Try to let the butter soften on the counter for about an hour. If you melt it in the microwave, it will change the texture of the dough by making it less creamy and your cookies will bake up extra crispy. But if you like them that way, melt the butter!
  • You can use any baking chips here. We have done semi-sweet, milk chocolate, white chocolate and butterscotch. Do whatever makes you happy, our favorite is milk chocolate!
  • Some people say that you should’t eat this kind of cookie dough because of the raw eggs. Make your own decisions there. I have licked this recipe’s beaters since I was a kid and all my kids have too, many times, and we have had no problems. That said please be careful and do what is best for you!
